Anime review: Kamisama Hajimemashita

Kamisama Hajimemashita (also known as Kamisama Kiss) is a romantic anime comedy -shoujo- first born as a manga from the pen of Julietta Suzuki.

The story revolve around Nanao Momozono, a high school girl whose father left her with debts. Fighting all her life with her father's gambling and poverty, eventually she is evicted from her house and left all alone in the streets. When she thinks her life is over, a man approaches her (kind of) and offer his house for her to live in -since he no longer stays there- after that he kisses her on the forehead and go away.

Turns out that wasn't a simple kiss.. upon arriving at his old home she finds herself in a temple with two little strange creatures and a boy with silver hair, a tail and cat ears. Actually he's a demon fox, Tomoe, a familar of the land-god and has protected the temple since his master left many years ago; not just that, he actually confuses Nanao with Mikage -his previous master- and attacks her. Just a bit later we found out that the man who kissed Nanao was Mikage and passed on to her a bit of his 'godness' so she is now the land-god and that temple is officially her new home.

At first things won't be easy for Nanao, as the familiar is not willing to cooperate.

As the two servants of the temple suggests, she needs to bind Tomoe to let him become her official familiar. A bind that is.. obliviously I must say, a kiss.

After 'that', Tomoe can't do anything but obey. Their life has a lot of ups and downs, and new people enter their lifes (as in, mostly boys). He become attached to her and always helps her, while Nanao slowly develops 'god powers' and falls in love with him.

Then my review: If you are looking for something light, funny and romantic this anime is for you. I highly recommend it. The story may be a little cliché (classical desperate and slightly dumb girl meet a beautiful, powerful and grumpy boy with a idden soft side) but it never tires you out and is really addictive.

Alas, there are just 13 episode. I'm hoping for a second season but who knows.. for the ones of you who arent' satisfied just with the anime I suggest you to read the manga. It's still on and it's plainly amazing.
I assure you won't regret watching/reading Kamisama Hajimemashita!

This is the opening of the anime, I couldn't find the sub-eng but it should do anyway. Below the official video of the song from singer 'Hanae'.

Tell me you don't love it already!
