I can't believe it's happening, but it's true. One of my childhood anime 'Guru Guru' (Mahoujin Guru Guru) has a new anime adaptation!! The new reboot is not a sequel of the previous anime series but will start afresh from the first chapter of the original manga.
For those new to this anime here's the plot: When the seal confining the demon king Giri wears off, it's time for a hero to step up and defeat him. Nike, a young boy unwilling to accept a fate he never wanted, and Kukuri, a young witch from an ancient tribe, will travel to seal Giri again and save the world, RPG style.
While the plot may look kinda 'serious' you will find out the anime is really funny, mostly aimed at older children, full of comical interludes while keeping his original shounen / fantasy style.
Guru Guru was born as a manga by Hiroyuki Eto and first published on Montly Shonen Gangan magazine from 1992 to 2003, a sequel was later launched in 2012 on the Gangan Online website. The first anime series from 1994-95, turned into a film in 1996 and a sequel Doki Doki Densetsu Mahoujin Guru Guru on television.
Differences between the old and new animation:
You definitely can tell there's a huge improvement, and I love this new much modern and simple animation style.
Trailer for the new anime - first episode (I'll post opening and ending as soon as I find them):
The first episode is already available online, go check it out!
It's been a while! Since we're in a new fresh year I figured I would do a 'manga of the year' instead of a month, and indeed I have a couple of manga I've loved this past year! Guess which?
The first is 'GINTAMA' a 2003 manga by Hideaki Sorachi!
Gintama has been around for a few years (it has its own anime and movies as well) and is really popular but I just got to read it recently. Of course I got hooked!
PLOT: Edo period, as the world was attacked by aliens (Amanto) samurais tried to defeat them but where betrayed by the shogun, who realized their power and made an unequal deal with them. Subsequently, swords were banned in public and so samurai scattered around doing other jobs. Gintoki Sakata is a poor but eccentric samurai, who lives by doing freelance jobs at the 'Yoruzuya'. While on one of his jobs he encounter teenagers Shinpachi Shimura and alien Kagura, who become his assistants.
My Take: Don't expect a serious manga! At the start it was more like a comedy manga, interesting but really silly, only to switch later to a total shounen. It still has silly side stories and most of the characters make no sense, BUT it is awesome! Also, there are so many characters it's hard to keep a track of them.
The second is 'NORAGAMI', is a 2011 fantasy manga by Adachi Toka! This one also has an anime series, but we'll get to it another time.
PLOT: Noragami, literally 'Stray God', is about an underdog god named Yato. He is said to be the god of War and Calamity but is not very popular and hasn't got a shrine. To have those he needs money, which he collects by doing deeds to people in needs -who pay him 500 yen for whichever job-. While clumsily doing that, he meets Hiyori Iki, an highschool girl who can see him and that, for an accident, is stuck in between human world and afterlife. He may seems like a simple fellow but he has a past nobody seems to know about..
My take: Noragami has a bit of everything: action, fantasy, japanese mythology, romance, friendship and comedy. You can't go wrong with it!
Well then, that's it for this time, I hope you enjoyed this! Until next time :3
Well, if you still don't then here it is... Sailor Moon (season 2 'Crystal') will have a reboot!!! The anime called "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal" will be composed of 26 episodes that will air on July, 5, 2014!
What will it change from the original anime you ask? Well, first of all graphics.
There is a world of difference here so this picture will speak for itself.
This series will be more faithful to Naoko Takeuchi's manga. Let's look at Rei's design from the reboot and the manga.. See? It's a lot much more alike and above all more femminine.Another thing will be that Sailor Moon Crystal will catch up with time.. what I mean is, the first anime was in 1999 and being now in 2014 a lot of things changed.. so did technology. So in Sailor Moon's world we'll see nowadays technology, as of cellphones and such. Cool, right?
But let's look closely at the released pictures (click to enlarge).
School uniforms.
Sailor version.
It may be awkard at first, especially to those loyal to the first series, but I think we'll get around it. Also, why judge it before it even aired?
By the way I'll do a detailled review when the first episodes will be out, so wait for it! : D
Here is the trailer that just came out the other day.. useless to say I'm super excited about this!

Everyone who loves Japan must surely know of this recipe from anime, manga, drama or whatever. Omurice is a really popular plate and not that difficult either.
Omurice is a Japanese word for "omelet and rice." Seasoned and fried rice is wrapped or topped by omelet.
Ingredients: 4 cups steamed Japanese rice 1/2 lb. chicken breast, cut into small pieces 1 green peppers, cored and finely chopped 4 white mushrooms, sliced 1/2 onion, chopped salt and pepper to season 4 Tbsp ketchup vegetable oil for frying 8 eggs
Preparation: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet and saute chicken. Add onion, mushrooms, and green pepper in the skillet and saute together until softened. Add steamed rice in the pan and stir-fry together. Sprinkle some salt and pepper. Stop the heat and add ketchup and mix well. Set the seasoned rice aside. Heat about 1 tsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Beat two eggs in a small bowl and pour the egg in the skillet. Quickly spread the egg and make a round omelet. Place 1/4 of the seasoned rice in the middle of the omelet and fold top and bottom sides of omelet over the rice. Cover the frying pan with a plate and carefully turn them over to place the omerice on the plate. Repeat this process to make four omelet rice. Put some ketchup on top of omurice just before serving.
*Makes 4 servings

Who doesn't know of cosplay nowadays? Well, in case you don't know Cosplay (from the words costume play) is the performance act in which a person wear costumes to represent a character -from a manga, anime, movie, game or whatever- and impersonate it.
Well, cosplay is a serious business now and it requires lots of effort and money (lol), also there are a lot of event or conventions for cosplayers around the world.
Of course Japan is on another level, there are seriously shops like this one there. Just one word: amazing!
Anyway here are some of my -random- favourite cosplays:
That's the vocaloid "Miku".. nowadays EVERYBODY just cosplays her, it's not funny anymore. But look what great make-up, wig and circle lense! Sigh*
Here's a freaking real Sanji from One Piece...this is too much even for me!
Hot group, obliviously Pokèmon!
Another overly-abused cosplay, Kuroshitsuji and Monoshitsuji..you can see Ciel-like-girls everywhere during japan related events.
And finally, here's the one I love the most. She represent Tsukimi of "Kuragehime" and it's the really first time I saw a cosplay of that. And it's amazing..if you have time buy the manga and watch the anime series, you will enjoy both so much.. granted!
