I know I'm late to the party, I've been beaming with joy and waves of nostalgia ever since I heard Card Captor Sakura is coming back!
Yeah, you heard that right, the beloved Sakura is coming back to our screens on January 2018, with a new anime series called 'Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card Arc'. It's not a freaking reboot, I can't stress enough about that, but a full-fledged sequel of our favourite childhood heroine.
The new 'Clear Card Arc' starts right where CCS ended, Sakura Kinomoto is starting junior high and reunites with her now boyfriend, Li Shaoran.
Life has been quiet now that all the Clow Card are Sakura Cards, until Sakura has a new prophetic dream about an unknow cloaked figure. The Sakura Cards then turn blank and become useless, and new strange magic events happen caused by new mysterious cards. Sakura, along with the guardians Cerberus and Yue, and the loyal Tomoyo, will have to capture the new transparent cards and find the reason behind all of this.
Spoiler (highlight to see it): Seems like Shaoran and Eriol knows something about it but aren't disclosing it to Sakura, surely for her well being.
A prequel, to cover the year between the 'Sakura Card Arc' and the 'Clear Card Arc' will air in Japan on September 13 and it will be titled 'Sakura to Futatsu no Kuma'.
Anyway, we have the official anime trailer, enjoy!
And another one.
So I did some digging and turns out there's been a manga prior to the anime announcement as well (duh!), also called CCS: Clear Card Arc! How amazing is that?
The manga has been going on since last year and it's actually on its 13th chapter (I'm talking about english scans of course) and you can find it anywhere. Check out some of the covers!
You can tell the drawing has improved but is pretty much the same, which is good.
Also, in this sequel there will be a couple of new characters. I'm not gonna say anything about them, I'll just leave the pictures here.
Shinomoto Akiho (above with Sakura) and Yuna D. Kaito. Suspicious, right?
So, after almost 20 years, Card Captor Sakura is coming back, I'm really glad Clamp has picked up this project along all their others one. For those who don't follow them, usually most of Clamp's manga and characters are connected to one another (see Tsubasa Chronicle with CCS, XXX Holic and others) so it'll be interesting to see where it'll all ends up to.
By the way, I really look forward too see my favourite characters Touya and Yue / Yukito and their -hopefully- growing relationship!
Also, you can bet there will be tons of new merch. I can't wait!
